FEIAP and Changzhou Deepen Engineering Collaboration Through New Award Initiative
On 5 June 2026, a series of high-level meetings and official ceremonies were held in the Changzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone, marking a significant advancement in the potential strategic partnership between the Federation of Engineering Organizations in Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP) and the City of Changzhou.
Establishment of the FEIAP–Industry Awards
A key highlight was the signing of a cooperation agreement to establish the FEIAP–Changzhou NR Electric Power Engineering Awards. This landmark initiative represents the first engineering award in Jiangsu Province to be jointly established by an international engineering organization and a leading local enterprise.
The award aims to recognise and celebrate outstanding contributions by engineering and technology professionals, particularly those working at the forefront of innovation and development. Awards will be presented in the following four categories:
- Outstanding Young Engineer Award
- Engineering Education Innovation Award
- Engineering Technology Innovation Award
- Outstanding Female Engineer Award
The inaugural award selection process is expected to be completed in the first half of 2027, with the first cohort of award recipients to be announced thereafter.
This initiative reflects FEIAP’s commitment to promoting engineering excellence, fostering innovation, and strengthening international collaboration across the Asia-Pacific region.
Preparations Underway for the FEIAP China Representative Office
Earlier in the day, a delegation led by FEIAP Secretary-General, Ir. Dr. Tan Yean Chin, and Chairman of the FEIAP Emerging Technologies and Career Development Committee, Prof. Wang Qinglin, visited the proposed site of the FEIAP China Representative Office to review the progress of its preparatory and development initiatives.
During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the development plans for the FEIAP China Representative Office. Ir. Dr. Tan Yean Chin and Prof. Wang Qinglin commended the progress made and provided guidance on the office’s phased development:
- Promoting international engineering and technical exchanges;
- Facilitating the development and harmonisation of engineering standards;
- Nurturing and developing the next generation of engineering talent; and
- Driving innovation and technological advancement across the region.
The establishment of the FEIAP China Representative Office is expected to strengthen cooperation between international engineering communities and local industry stakeholders, while further enhancing FEIAP’s presence and engagement within China.
These initiatives are closely aligned with Changzhou’s vision of becoming an internationally recognised intelligent manufacturing city. By leveraging global engineering networks and fostering international collaboration, the partnership seeks to attract high-calibre overseas talent, facilitate knowledge exchange, and support the continued growth of Changzhou’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem, particularly its trillion-yuan new energy industry cluster.
